Abigail Awol is the daughter of Jungle Navigation Company skipper Albert Awol in the Tales from Adventureland book series.
Background[]
From a young age, Abigail was trained in a variety of skills by her father, learning to skipper a boat, pilot aircraft, learn various self-defense and navigational techniques, in the hopes of carrying on the family explorer tradition. However, on her first expedition with her father, mother, and family friend Ned Lostmore, they were ambushed by some of Ned's enemies and in the chaos, her mother was killed. In anger and grief, she blamed her father and Ned for what had happened and found herself in the employ of Professor Phink and the Collective. During this time, she would arrange the hit on Ned that would turn him into an enchanted shrunken head and would assist Phink in his search for the malicious Tiki God Kapu. Initially believing most of the supernatural forces the Collective were seeking to control to be only harmless superstitions, she begins to realize what she's gotten into when learning Kapu is very much real. These events and learning how worried her father has been for her lead to her redemption, helping Andy Stanley to escape and rejoin the Jungle Explorers' Society.
