Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park or more simply Blizzard Beach is a water park in Walt Disney World.

History[]

Background[]

Blizzard Beach was a Floridian beach at the base of Mt. Gushmore which was hit by a freak tropical snowstorm. Following this it was transformed into Florida's first ski-resort only for the Florida sun to melt the snow and ice, destroying this endeavour. After an alligator known as Ice Gator slid down one of the ski-hills like it was a water-slide, this lead the executives to re-structuring it to be a winter-activity themed beach resort.[1]

Connections[]

Expedition Everest[]

In the ice cave grotto of Cross Country Creek there are several carvings documenting the experiences of Blizzard Beach residents, predominately as a result of the freak snowstorm.[2] Amongst the carvings is one showing the Himalayas and the angered Yeti of the Forbidden Mountain as humans run in panic from it.[3]

Trader Sam's[]

One of the holiday drinks in Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar and Trader Sam's Grog Grotto is called the, "Tropical Snowstorm". The ordering of this drink triggers a tropical snowstorm in the windows, similar to that from Blizzard Beach's backstory. The menu description might reference Blizzard Beach where it mentions relaxing on shores during the enchanted weather.[4]

Typhoon Lagoon[]

There is a letter from Santa Claus in the Winter Summerland which reads, "Going snorkeling at Shark Reef. Be back soon…I hope.-“Santa Jaws”".[5]Shark Reef is a location from Typhoon Lagoon which used to be used for guests to snorkel with sharks. Typhoon Lagoon's mascot Lagoona Gator was also inspired by Ice Gator though it is unknown if they have any in-world connections.
