Citrikua is a character from the Tropical Serenade.

History[]

Citrikua is a Polynesian God of Health and the patron god of the Sunshine Pavilion.[1] A tiki idol of the god was placed outside of the Enchanted Tiki Room.

Development history[]

Citrikua is a fictitious being created to promote the Florida Orange Growers who sponsored the Magic Kingdom's Sunshine Pavilion that included the Tropical Serenade (Enchanted Tiki Room), and Sunshine Tree Terrace. The name Citrikua is made to sound like the word, "Citrus" however is impossible in the Māori language as there is no, "S" sound in the Polynesian dialect.

Appearances[]

Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room[]

Citrikua appears in the Magic Kingdom version of the Tiki Room where a waterfall reveals a secret chamber holding the god. Upon the god's head are Clyde and Claude Birdbrain who tell guests stories about how they found the Tiki Room and their adventures in Adventureland. As they speak, Citrikua moves their head.

The Enchanted Tiki Room: Get the Fever![]

In this overlay, Citrikua carried a boom-box as an apparent member of the musical group, "2-Can".

Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management[]

In this version of the attraction, Clyde & Claude were replaced by the birds William and Morris. William and Morris were two birds that worked for Hollywood and who had sold the Tiki Room to Iago from Aladdin and Zazu from The Lion King.

Trivia[]

  • Citrikua is similar to the Orange Bird in being a Disney Parks character created for the Sunshine Pavilion to promote the Floridian citrus industry.
