The Mekong Maiden is a boat from the Jungle Cruise.
History[]
The Mekong Maiden was a boat used by the Jungle Navigation Company in the 1930s. In 1935 the ship was destroyed when it passed over Schweitzer Falls along the Nile in North Africa.
Development history[]
The Mekong Maiden was one of the Disneyland Jungle Cruise's original boats but was decommissioned in 1997 along with the Magdalena Maiden. This was due to the boats of the attraction being replaced for more heavily themed vehicles made to look authentic to the setting as opposed to the clean and somewhat campy designs of the original boats. In 2021 the Mekong Maiden was announced to be integrated into a new narrative based refurbishment for the Jungle Cruise alongside the removed boat the Kwango Kate.
Appearances and allusions[]
Adventure Trading Company[]
An article in the Daily Gnus by Skip Documentary has an article on the disappearance of the Magdalena Maiden and Mekong Maiden. It is brought up that no JNC employees are reported missing nor have commented on the disappearance of the boats but that there are large amounts of patchwork and damage near the docks of the Jungle Cruise's boathouse likely connected.
