Ned Land was a Canadian sailor who served as the master-harpooner aboard a frigate which set out to hunt a mysterious sea-monster destroying ships. After the ship was wrecked by the monster, Ned Land along with marine-biologist Professor Pierre Aronnax and his manservant Conseil found themselves in the water where they found the supposed sea-monster.
As it would turn out, the, "Monster" was a Victorian-era submarine known as the Nautilus which was captained by an enigmatic man known as Captain Nemo. They would be saved by Nemo from he ocean and spend time amongst his crew until the Nautilus would be wrecked by a giant squid.
Ned Land was intended to be a prominent figure in the unbuilt Disneyland area of Discovery Bay. The story of the area would have had Ned Land as an ally to Jason Chandler who aided him in salvaging the Nautilus to be relocated to Discovery Bay.
