In the alternate history of this film, San Francisco was hit by an earthquake in 1906 causing mass destruction. The city was largely rebuilt by Japanese immigrants which technology that worked to combat the region's seismic activity. This rebuilt city became known as San Fransokyo and incorporated large amounts of Japanese culture and architecture.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad[]

The Butterfly Stage Line is listed as having connected to San Francisco via locations such as Fort Smith, Tumbleweed, Thunder Mesa, Quake City, El Paso and Fort Concho. It also connected to Tumbleweed with the San Francsico and Carolwood-Pacific Railroad Company.[1]

Discovery Bay[]

In Tony Baxter's proposed backstory for Discovery Bay, the colony of Discovery Bay would have been built on the outskirts of San Francisco.

Disney Springs[]

San Fransokyo is mentioned as one of the cities connected by airline to the town of Disney Springs.

Grizzly Peak[]

In the backstory for this region, the claim to Grizzly Peak was sold to the Eureka Gold & Timber Company of San Francisco

  • 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: This film begins in San Francisco where a crew of sailors including Ned Land sets out to kill what they believe to be a sea-monster, only for it to turn out to be the Nautilus.
  • Castaway Cowboy: In this film, cowboy Lincoln Costain was shanghaied in San Francisco causing him to be stranded on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.
  • Lilo & Stitch: In this film, Stitch creates a replica of San Francisco which he destroys as a means of replicating a B-movie.

Pleasure Island[]

The Pleasure Island historical plaques mention how Merriweather Adam Pleasure and his wife Isabella took a trip to San Francisco c. 1929. After falling in love with the back-and-forth boulevard of Lombard Street, Merriweather recreated the street as, "Lombard Promenade" on Pleasure Island.

Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar[]

The San Francisco Evening Bulletin newspaper from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is in Trader Sam's collection. Its article talks of a real sea-monster which in reality was a misidentification of the Nautilus.

The Apple Dumpling Gang[]

The Butterfly Stage Line is run by Colonel T.R. Clydesdale, a character from this film. It connected to Fort Concho and Quake City which were both featured in the Apple Dumpling Gang films.

Carolwood Pacific Railroad[]

The Butterfly Stage Line connected with San Francisco and Tumbleweed via this fictionalized railroad, based on the 7¼ in (184 mm) miniature railroad which was was created by Walt Disney in 1950.

Phantom Manor[]

The town of Thunder Mesa which the Butterfly Stage Line used to travel to San Francisco is the location of Big Thunder Island and Ravenswood Manor.
