Tropical Imports is a dining-service in Disneyland's Adventureland.

Backstory[]

Tropical Imports is one of the many shops which spawned in the 1930s due to the booming success of the Jungle Navigation Company. Its proprietor was one Trader Sam, a seemingly immortal South American man who was considered the, "Jungle's head salesman".

Adventure Trading Company[]

A story of Tropical Imports being ransacked by monkeys was featured in this newspaper made to tie into the Adventure Trading Company. The article mentions a shop-keep of Tropical Imports named Louie Majors.

Haunted Mansion[]

A crate on the roof of Tropical Imports holds an acrylic Indian elephant statue. This elephant is named Penny the Elephant and was taken from the Penny Arcade of Disneyland Paris' Main Street, U.S.A.. In the Haunted Mansion's pet cemetery, a crypt for Penny the Elephant can be found reading, "Where Pachyderms reside with worms within a tomb most elegant. You'll find long gone our mastodon Beloved Penny, the elephant".

Indiana Jones[]

A crate sent from Indiana Jones in the Lost Delta to the, "British Colonial Affairs" of India is amongst Tropical Imports' cargo.[1] During the The Summer of Hidden Mysteries event, Indiana would have shows on the roof of Tropical Imports.[2]

Jungle Cruise[]

Tropical Imports is mentioned by Nigel Greenwater in the audio-loop of the Jungle Cruise's queue. They are mentioned as having brought in a new shipment of mosquito netting and also as having some business affiliation with Trader Sam, referring to the shop pseudonymously as being, "Trader Sam's".[3] In the Disney Parks this name is traditionally used for Sam's bars Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar and Trader Sam's Grog Grotto.

There is writing on a wall within the Jungle Cruise attraction itself with advertises Tropical Imports' services.[4]

Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room[]

One of the wooden tiki drummers from the Enchanted Tiki Room can be seen amongst the cargo on the roof of Tropical Imports.
