The Vasquez de Coronado is a ship from the Indiana Jones film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Description[]

History[]

The Vasquez de Coronado was an ocean freighter which was privately owned by the criminal, "Man in the Panama hat". It was named for the Cross of Coronado, a golden crucifix relic which was stolen by the man in Utah around 1912 despite the best efforts of a young Indiana Jones. In 1938, Indiana tracked down the man to the freighter to steal back the cross to be put in a museum. This resulted in a fight which blew up the ship and left Jones as the only survivor.

Appearances and allusions[]

Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar[]

A life-preserver from the ship is hung up in the bar of S.E.A. member Jock Lindsey.[1] There is an illustration of the ship being hit by a wave off the coast of Madagascar on a map in the bar.[2]

Jungle Cruise[]

The life-preserver from the Coronado is mounted in the, "Danger Dock" of the Jungle Navigation Company's Mekong boathouse.[3] The reason it is located here is because it is a leftover prop from the Indiana Jones and the Summer of Hidden Mysteries event where Indiana Jones left several of his artifacts throughout the jungle which were seen on the Jungle Cruise.
